A free Memorial Day community celebration – all are welcome!

When: Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2025
Time: 10:00am – 4:30pm | Where: Fountain City Park
Fountain City Town Hall, Inc. invites you to join us at Honor Fountain City Day in the Park, an annual Memorial Day celebration that began in 1975. This community event is family-friendly and free to attend! Food, drinks, and crafts will be available for purchase at the event.
FAMILY ACTIVITIES: 10:00am – 3:15pm
- Live entertainment including the Knoxville Pipes and Drums (10am), the Fountain City Ramblers (11am), and the Tennessee Wind Symphony Jazz Band (2pm)
- Children’s games with prizes
- Exhibits by the American Red Cross, the City of Knoxville Fire Department, and the Knoxville Police Department
- Local craft vendors
- Food trucks including April’s Grill, Sweet n Sassy Catering, and SnoBiz
- Fountain City t-shirts for sale
COMMUNITY AWARDS CEREMONY: 3:15pm | FC Park Gazebo
We will be joined by Rev. Jim Whedbee for the invocation, Boy Scout Troop 55 for the Presentation of the Flag and Pledge of Allegiance, and vocalist Jacquie Brecheen will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner”.
Former Knoxville Vice Mayor and City Councilman, Nick Pavlis, will introduce the elected officials in attendance. Then, Fountain City Town Hall Chair, Joyce Lee, will present the following community awards:
- Commercial Restoration
- Residential Restoration
- Residential Landscaping
- Friend of Fountain City
- Person of the Year
MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY: 4:00pm | FC Park Gazebo
Including:
- “Service and Sacrifice” presentation by WBIR Channel 10’s John Becker
- Patriotic songs by vocalist Jacquie Brecheen
- Central High School ROTC Color Guard
- Honor Guard and Taps: East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard
